Growing Careers at Stepping Stones Care: Neve's Journey
At Stepping Stones, we believe in investing in our people and creating opportunities for them to grow. Neve Skett's career journey is a great example of how support, development and trust can help colleagues build long-term careers with us.
Neve joined Stepping Stones Care four years ago as a Residential Support Worker, stepping into children's residential care for the first time.
"Right from the start, I loved how every day could be different, and every day I was learning or experiencing something new."
From the beginning, Neve was encouraged to develop her skills. With the support of her manager, she took on responsibilities including writing LAC reports, attending professional meetings and helping welcome new children into the home.
"I learnt so much under her guidance and felt really valued to be given the responsibilities I was given."
In December 2022, Neve progressed to Senior Residential Support Worker, where she developed her leadership skills by leading shifts, completing supervisions and even delivering medication and safer caring training to new starters.
After two years in the senior role, Neve took the next step in her career, becoming Deputy Manager at Marble House before moving to Opal House.
Throughout each stage of her journey, supportive managers have continued to coach and encourage her development.
"My current manager is so supportive and a brilliant coach, coaching me so I can maybe one day become a Registered Manager."
Reflecting on her four years with Stepping Stones Care, Neve says:
"I feel so lucky to be part of Stepping Stones Care."
We're incredibly proud of Neve's journey and the dedication she has shown throughout her career. Her story reflects our commitment to developing our colleagues, recognising potential and supporting every member of the team to achieve their career ambitions.
