Our ethos and vision at Sandstone House is to be an Outstanding provision which is child focused and friendly in everything that we do, whilst providing the highest quality of care in achieving outstanding outcomes - for children, staff, families and the community.

Sandstone House, in Havering, aims to provide a standard of care which is extremely aspirational. All our practices are child-focused in order to keep young people safe and to help them enjoy and achieve in a positive way supporting each child to develop to their full potential.

Supported by an in-house clinical psychology team, we ensure comprehensive support and guidance for both our young people and staff members, this encompasses:

  • Initial assessments as required

  • Staff consultation and clinical supervision in team meetings

  • Oversight of our therapeutic care plans and behaviour support documents.

  • Regular observations of both the children’s behaviour and staff practice.

  • Remote support as and when required.

  • Regular direct or indirect therapy sessions for young people if required.

We prioritise staff training in therapeutic parenting models, such as the PACE model, during induction and throughout their tenure. This ensures a consistent and high-quality approach to nurturing care, fundamental to our interactions with children and young people.

Our home caters to children and adolescents aged 8-18, facing emotional and behavioural challenges often stemming from complex trauma and attachment issues. With accommodation for up to three young people at a time, we welcome both male and female young children.

Our mission is to positively impact every child's life by helping them understand and manage trauma and abuse experiences. We strive to cultivate resilience and essential life skills, preparing them for reintegration into their homes, new foster homes, or independent living as adults.

Empowering young people to make constructive choices for their futures is central to our ethos. By offering engaging activities and structured incentive programs tailored to their interests, we foster positive peer connections and help the children to make sense of their past so that they can thrive in their future.
